Scheduled completion date and deadline
Focus one distinguishes two dates: when you want to do something and when it has to be finished.
| Scheduled completion date | Deadline | |
|---|---|---|
| Meaning | When you want to complete the task | Hard due date |
| Effect | Task appears in “Scheduled”, and from that day also in “Next” | Label on the task, colored by urgency |
| Lead time | – | Adjustable, default 3 days: the task appears in “Next” in good time |
| Inheritance | – | Tasks inherit the deadline of their project |
Overdue tasks are highlighted. With quick scheduling you set the scheduled completion date to today, tomorrow, next week or next month.
Showing the deadline earlier. How many days before the deadline a task shows up in “Next” is set under Settings → Planning → “Show deadline from” (or “On the due day”). This applies to all tasks with a deadline. There is no date until which a single task stays hidden. Only projects have an activation date: an inactive project becomes active again automatically on that day.
You set the deadline in the detail view with Add Deadline and remove it with Remove deadline. The lead time is global (see above), not per task.
